It's your choice @ 9.11.08

The past is the past. You can't move back. There's only two things you can be in life. A rock, or a stream. You can either sit there and do nothing and let things pass you by, or you can go with the flow and see where the current takes you.

The stream
Sometimes the current is smooth, takes you to places beautiful, peaceful, calm. You meet a lot of people, get to experience a lot of different things, you get to see the world around you. Sometimes, when it rains too hard, the current gets rough, things get turbulant. The inside of the stream gets all hectic as things float rapidly inside, and sometimes, the stream overflows, that is called lament; it floods the banks and becomes a river. Sometimes that river becomes strong, and washes away everything in its path. Thats called rage. But no matter how bad it seems, the water always subsides, and trickles down eventually into a stream, and in the end, that stream meets the lake and becomes a part of something greater than itself, or better, it reaches the river which carries it to the sea, an even greater part of our being.

The rock
The rock is solitude. It sits there. It lets life pass it by. Water trickles down the rock, wind gushes by, if the rock is placed within the stream, life passes it by. It stays unchanged, uneffected. The rock, however, is not invincible. Its effected by the elements. The sun warms the rock, but if it gets too hot, it doesnt become too comfortable to touch, this is annoyance. The rain washes away the dirt off the rock, But sometimes, if it rains too long, moss grows on the rock and mushrooms and other plants, and soon the rock is covered by the vegetation, this is called depression. The rock thus gets consumed by its surroundings, yet, it is still a rock, and remains unchanged. It neither progresses nor deteriorates. It is still..

We can be either one of these two things in life. The stream cannot go back on its current and go back to places its been, people its met. The rock cannot sprout legs and move to another spot, or visit the friendly mouse that sat underneath it for shade.

The most important lesson in life is to realize what is best for you. Consume your own grief and be the rock. You're bound to solitude. Move on and flow like the stream, and meet and experience new people and things. You can let it pass or you can move away from it... It's your choice.
